Bio
I began my teaching career as a 4th grade ELAR/Social Studies teacher at Roland Reynolds Elementary in Franklin. Because I have a personal connection with dyslexia (it runs in my family!), I became passionate about how to best instruct students that are identified with dyslexia in my classroom. This lead me to the Dyslexia Therapist Training Program at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas. Upon completion of this program, I became a CALT--Certified Academic Language Therapist and the Dyslexia Coordinator for FISD. With the passing of new legislation I was eligible to apply for my state Dyslexia License. So, in addition to being a CALT, I am also an LDT--Licensed Dyslexia Therapist. I am always studying and researching the latest information and trends in dyslexia. I really enjoy being able to teach students with dyslexia, but I love the relationships it allows me to build!
In addition to being a CALT and LDT, I'm also wife to Johnny and mom to 3 teenagers--Kenna, Jake, and Jessie. Supporting my family keeps me busy, but when I do find a few free minutes you can find me gardening, reading, or enjoying the blessing of rural life.
