New Math Standards for K-8 students

about 2 years ago the State Board of Education adopted a new set of play darts for mathematics known as the cheat this means the status change the level of expectations for students in math classrooms beginning in kindergarten all the way through precalculus these changes were Guided by the College and Career Readiness standards and are intended repair all Texas students for the challenges they will face in the 21st century the new standards for high school math courses implement it during the 2015-2016 school year this school year 2014 through 2015 the new standards are being implemented in kindergarten through 8th grade and all Texas classrooms some of the content being taught has been moved from ever prize levels and other content is brand-new if you look closely at six grade you can see that 23 standard tremendous 15 standards moved down from either 7th grade math 8th grade math or Algebra 1 and 13 Stingers are brand new so what I am saying as an example is it if you have a sixth grader they are now expected to learn son of what used to be taught in 7th grade eighth grade and even Algebra 1 this is been challenging for teachers and students and this shift and tiques has happened across all rainbow the shift has caused some gas and learning for students if you have a child in one of these grade levels you may have noticed change in your child's math work or possibly even in his or her grades in order to address the gaps in new standards the which one in Franklin Dynasty has had to change extensively this year all third through eighth grade students will take the math STAAR on the new standards during the week 2015 due to the significant changes in the nastiness graders and eighth graders will not be held to the Student Success initiative or SSI for math the school year Franklin honesty is committed to helping students reach these new higher expectations in math if you have any questions or concerns about how your child is performing with these new expectations please contact your child's campus for formation on the new Mac t please visit the Texas Education agencies website
